Holdenby’s Icarus Falconry Centre is set to open its doors to GBFF vistors - as a part of your normal entry price!! Offering visitors the chance to experience a breathtaking collection of over thirty majestic Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, Buzzards, Owls, and Vultures. Guests will not only learn fascinating facts about these incredible birds of prey but also witness their awe-inspiring flight demonstrations on every open day.
Holdenby House, steeped in royal history, provides the perfect backdrop for this unique experience. Both King James I, a former owner of Holdenby, and Charles I, who was imprisoned here, were passionate about falconry and practiced it on these very grounds. The tradition continues today, with visitors invited to immerse themselves in this age-old art.
But that’s not all! This year, the Falconry Centre proudly introduces its growing English Wildlife collection. Visitors can meet Roxy the Fox, Norma the Hedgehog, Neil and Neon the Rats, and other delightful members of Britain’s animal kingdom. Adding to the charm, Sly and Simba the tortoises will also be making an appearance.
