Pamela Chen

Bio

Pamela grew up in a conventional Taiwanese family – eldest of two children to a stonemason father and seamstress mother. Cooking was at the heart of everyday life, and mouthwatering meals were a way to bring family and friends together, using fresh, seasonal, local ingredients.

After a chance meeting with an Englishman, she followed her heart and moved to rural England in 1990, got married and started a family. Having experienced a traditional eastern childhood, life in the west was full of surprises!

Living two very different lives has given he a unique insight into both eastern and western culture. Pamela always knew she wanted to preserve her Taiwanese heritage in the kitchen, and to inject it with western influences that made it accessible to everyone.

Based in the beautiful Cotswolds, her cultural and culinary expeditions take Pamela all over the world, as she introduces people to her Signature Taste of Asia. Today, you’ll find her presenting to an audience of 400+ on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, demonstrating at a high-end product launch, or teaching small, intimate groups about her culture and cuisine.
