Laura Kay

Bio

After 6 years as co-Chef Proprietor of the ‘Plough Inn at Brackenfield’ alongside her business partner Anthony Spencer, Laura is now able to sleep more than 4 hours between a Saturday evening and Sunday morning with both deciding to move on and try something new.

From Mansfield, and having gained her City and Guilds chef qualifications, Laura worked her way up the kitchen brigade ladder, learning her craft in a number of notable establishments in the East Midlands including Head Pastry Chef at Michelin Starred Fischers Baslow Hall, and Sous Chef and Head Pastry Chef at both Riber Hall (until Mr and Mrs Biggins’ retirement) and at Callow Hall Ashbourne, where she met Anthony before they left to take on The Plough.

Laura also makes the most incredible bespoke cakes in all shapes and sizes and that continues, so if you’re after a 3 tier wedding cake or indeed a Lancaster Bomber, then you know where to go.
