Stonyhurst College Food Festival
25th – 27th August
Stonyhurst College is a Grade I listed building in the beautiful Forest of Bowland, dating back as far as the 16th century. Inhabited originally by the de Bayley family, the building is now used primarily as a co-educational boarding and day school.
Some of The Great British Food Festival at Stonyhurst will be housed within the impressive building, with hot food, bars, bands and children’s entertainment in the grounds. Your ticket to the event also includes free on-site parking, free entrance to the gardens normally £1 per person and discounted tours of the College buildings, where visitors will have the opportunity to see the various chapels and historic rooms within the building. This includes the Great Hall with portraits of the seven former pupils awarded the Victoria Cross, and the table on which Cromwell is reputed to have slept the night before the Battle of Preston in 1648.
The College is also blessed with an awe-inspiring collection of artefacts reaching back to the sixteenth century. Amongst this collection is an Egyptian mummy, Arthur Conan Doyle’s school desk and a collection of historic manuscripts.
“Great atmosphere, great location and more importantly, great food!!” Raveen
