Missing the Bake Off? Try the Cake Off!
The Great British Food Festival is offering all budding bakers out there free entry to any of their remaining five summer food festivals around the country. All you have to do is enter their ‘Cake Off’ and you will get free entry and a chance to win the acclaim of ex Bake Off star judges along with a fantastic prize from Kenwood.
The Cake Off is a popular part of the festival, where amateur bakers go head to head to impress the judges, who are made up of ex Bake Off Stars with the likes of Val Stones, Howard Middleton, Luis Troyano, Jane Beedle, and Alana Spencer (apprentice winner 2016). The cakes are also handed out to the audience, so everyone gets to join in and try them. Luis Troyano, said ‘I love demoing at the shows and the highlight of the weekend is judging the public cake off. The effort people put into their cakes is simply staggering and I learn from these showstoppers every time. So get baking and bring a cake to enter. I can’t wait to try them!’
As well as judging the Cake Off, lots of the Bake Off stars will be showing off their skills on the main Chef Demo stage, alongside the celeb chefs, some of the best regional talent will be showcasing their skills; from baking tips to fine dining know-how, the Demo Theatre is the place to be for any budding chef.
Dan Maycock, Festival Director, said, “We’re had some great chefs and bakers demo over the years, always a popular tent and we are pleased to add Val Stones and Jane Beedle to this year’s names’ Daniel added that the Cake Off is a favourite of his as well ‘The public entries are fantastic, is great to see the effort people put in. The star bakers we have at the events are always really keen to get involved, it’s a nice fun event, and people love to have their cakes judged ‘Bake Off’ style.’
There is, of course, lot’s more going on with artisan producers, street food, kids cookery lessons, and great live music all day. As an added bonus the events often include access to the gardens and parks at some stunning stately homes and venues.
The perfect recipe for a fun, foodie day out for the whole family. For more info visit www.greatbritishfoodfestival.com .
