Joe is an energetic chef with a great passion for sharing his culinary expertise. After training at High Peak College, Joe went on to set up his own business which he successfully ran for six years before heading off on his travels spending a year around Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam where he learnt about the local food culture and styles of cuisine.
On return, Joe worked locally in traditional pubs and fine dining restaurants – he is passionate about cooking with locally sourced, seasonal food. He has been Sous Chef at Hugh Fearnley Whitingstall’s River Cottage, has cooked privately for none other than Gary Barlow and the first time Joe joined us at Hardwick, he was with Tideswell School of Food as one of their most popular chef tutors.
Now he shares his expertise with the next generation of Chefs as Head/Production Chef at Sheffield College’s Silver Plate Restaurant which has been awarded the prestigious AA College Rosette Highly Commended award – one of only four colleges nationally to hold such an accolade.
The Silver Plate Restaurant has a strong reputation for its food, value and service. The 60-seater training restaurant is open four lunchtimes and two evenings a week, and provides meals created by catering students under the supervision of experienced staff.
